Reflection on Comprehension Assignment

As the name suggests, this "Comprehension Assignment" is no joking matter. Due to the fact that I treated it too seriously, a ton of my brain juice was wasted. Unfortunately, I still did not score well for it.

This comprehension assignment was supposed to be part of our term grade, however, I find that it was extreme hard. I believe nobody really scored high for this test. After some thorough reflection, I now see the importance of using the answering techniques to tackle the comprehension questions.

As for the summary writing, which I fear the most due to the marks it holds, I shall be more cautious when writing the main ideas of the comprehension passage. Sieving the points is certainly a tedious process, but for the sake of my term grades, I shall work hard to score as high as possible in the future.
It appears that this shall be one of the last post in this blog for the year.

So I shall do a brief summary of what I have learnt in these 3 terms.

To begin, I now appreciate literature much more. I used to think that they were nothing but useless book reports, yet now I find that there is something to learn from doing literatures.

Also, we have been taught more about the techniques of answering comprehension questions. I find that this is especially useful, when all of us face comprehension questions in both our english and chinese papers. Even though some of the things were taught last year, we get to use the time to do some revision. During this period, we can even get to discover something greater, which we have yet to notice it before.

In this learning journey, we were exposed to interesting story books. This is a new type of learning method for me as I have always thought that learning english were all about doing assessment books and answering the questions on the worksheets. Though I find that the book was of no challenge to read, I believe that it was a great idea to teach us how to appreciate story books.

To sum up, I relatively enjoyed myself in the language arts periods. I do hope that we get to have more of these exposures in the future.

Snapshotland

step 9:
a) persona
b) It is speaking to the public
c) It is a happy setting as though it is wonderland the people are in
d) He wants to share his happiness with others
e) To make it as attractive as possible- this way he can captivate the readers attention and have them wish that snapshotland really existed
f) They describe the setting in snapshotland vividly as tells us how interesting it is

step 10:
It makes us appreciate what we really have in real life. Although "choosing to age only when he wishes to" is unrealistic, it reminds us of how fortunate we are to even have food to eat and shoes to wear.

Metaphors -Life is a(n)..

Life is a lump of clay,
what lays ahead remains unknown.
Come to a turning point,
your life will have a drastic change.

It all depends on the potter,
let god decides what's best for you.
Just go through all the twists and turns,
who knows you may just become the
finest creation he has ever made!

Poem

School Life

I looked at the pile of worksheets,
stacked up on my table.

I wanted to tear them to bits,
give them the label-

"Leftover food"
but even my dog didn't think it was good.
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my heart)

i am never without it(anywhere i go you go,my dear;
and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling)

i fear no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)

i want no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)

and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant

and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)

and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

I like this poem because it uses the personifications to further emphasize on his point.

It shows the writer's love for the person he is writing about, though not exactly romantic,

I think that is an interesting way to show one's love.

Urbanisation Arrives in Thul

Breaking News! The government has made a shocking decision. They have decided to build a factory in the undeveloped city- Thul, changing it itnto a commercial area with factories! The villagers are astonished at this sudden decision. Some chose not to believe while others decided to stage a protest. They have travelled to Bombay and are currently protesting to the government there. The government has a strong stance over this and they refuse to accede to the villagers' request. The villagers are very furious over this and one villager who was interviewed said this.
"I am extremely angry over this sudden decision. I will not tolerate such things to be done to our city. who are the government to take over our city? It is our land, we decide what is best for ourselves."
It also seems that the villagers will not go home empty-handed. Will the government finally decide not to take over the village? It is all up to fate now. The village leader, who also made his way up to Bom bay later in the day, said. "It seems that we have a slim chance of over-throwing the government. But we will fight till the very end. We will have no regrets of protesting.
